Accounting is a compulsory obligation of all legal entities and some of the natural persons operating on the territory of Bulgaria. It should be held in accordnce with Accountancy Act and applicable Accounting Standards. All legal entities also should conduct their payroll activities on a monthly basis. This is applied for employees and management remunerations, their income taxes and social security payments. Every company with an annual turnover more than 25 000 euro is subject to VAT regulations. Setting up a business is relatively easy in Bulgaria. You can trade as a sole self-employed trader (BG residents) or through a limited company. Nominal Ltd offers BG company or BG sole trader registration to individuals who intend to conduct economical activity or to expand their business in Bulgaria. Beside this, only Bulgarian and EU citizens (or companies) can purchase land in Bulgaria, therefore to buy a house with a garden a non EU citizen must form a company. See more details...

Nil tax return, Dormant accounts

Every company should submit annual accounts for the tax authorities till 31st of March next year. Individuals and sole traders should present their annual tax return till 30th of April. It includes all incomes originated from Bulgaria that may or may not be subject to a double taxation treaty. Companies have to prepare annual financial statements in accordance with Bulgarian Accounting Standards or International Financial Reporting Standards.
